Esther thinks she knows what to expect when she joins the Knighthood of Chaylor, led by her former friend, turned nemesis, Prince Thomas. Her days are filled with training and tournaments, until someone from Esther's past reappears, intent on destroying Chaylor. Unsure of where her loyalty lies and torn by feelings from the past, Thomas enlists his right-hand man, Merek, to keep tabs on Esther. As they try to thwart their enemy, Esther grows close to Merek and begins to see Thomas as less of a spoiled prince and more as a man.
